Hoodlums Arrested After Being Identified By Victim Two Weeks After Robbery

Three suspected armed robbers have been apprehended barely two weeks after they robbed on a woman and dispossessed her of her valuables.

The trio of Aisu Anago, 30y; Muritala Alubarika, 42 and Noah Joel, 34, now in police net, had sometime in February, 2019 exhibited their class of ingenuity in the act of robbery, for which one Mrs. Taiye Olotu fell their victim.

However, the law of retribution caught up with the young men, who chose to live big without any legitimate source of income, but to arm-twist people, using force and arms.

it was, indeed, their dooms day on February 28, when Mrs. Olotu sighted the three-man gang, using the same method of robbing her, and quickly alerted operatives of Atan-Otta Police Division, who were on patrol with their Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Abiodun Salami.

In her complaint to the detectives, the victim stated that on that fateful day, she boarded a cab from Atan-Otta, going to Idiroko. But half way into the journey, the three other occupants of the car proved their stuff as “one-chance” operators.

They robbed her and, thereafter, pushed her out of the moving cab.
But because it was a pay-back time for the marauders, they were said to be strategizing for another operation at the same Atan-Otta Motor Park, calling passengers into the same car, when the lady spotted them and, in an ironic manner, providence played to her favour; she ran into the police detectives on patrol.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident started that, “Based on her report, the patrol team quickly went with her to the motor park, where the three suspects were promptly arrested along with the vehicle. A search was instantly conducted on them during which a cutlass and a rope which they always tie their stubborn victims, before dispossessing them of their valuables, were recovered”.

“On interrogation, they made confessional statements that their mode of operation is for one of them to act as the driver, while the other two pose as passengers. They always sat in such a away that their victim(s) would be sandwiched in between them.

Once they got to an isolated area, one of them would bring out the cutlass and the other one would tie their victims’ hands for ease of search and subsequent dispossession of such person’s whatever valuables”, the PPRO said, adding that they admitted being the same gangsters that robbed the complainant earlier in the month of the sum of #100, 000.

However, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation.
