APC Unveils Plans To Take Over Anambra In 2021

Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled plans that will position the party to take over the leadership of the state in 2021.

Addressing journalists in Awka at the weekend, the Acting State Chairman of APC, Basil Ejidike, said the party’s target is the 2021 governorship election in the state.

He explained that the Anambra chapter of the party is rising up to the occasion following its abysmal failure in the 2019 elections in the state.

APC had so far won only one senatorial seat in the South-East zone, through former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu.

However, Ejidike said: “After appraising the party’s performance in the last general elections, it became clear that the APC had a lot to do in the state to win the 2021 governorship election and subsequent polls in the state.”

He said that for effective management of the party in the state, the party had decided to bring in old members like Senator Ikechukwu Obiora, former Anambra State Governor, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, former APC governorship aspirant in the state, Chief Obinna Uzor, etc.

The acting Chairman said that another measure to making the party an A-list party in the state is to host a conference to brainstorm on the best way to achieve the set out goal.

He added: “Anambra State is currently controlled by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). A political party is worthless if it cannot win elections.

“The idea is to see how we can redefine and reposition the party in the state. We must take over power in the state.

“We are in business and we must be serious. We can’t continue to be in opposition in the state.

“We shall also embark on tours of federal government projects in the state such as the second Niger Bridge, Enugu/Onitsha expressway and Amichi. It is a Federal Government road. This has become necessary because we have observed that most Federal Government projects in the state were underreported and unknown to our people.”

Ejidike said that while the report of a fact-finding committee inaugurated to investigate the reason for the party’s poor performance in the last election is still being awaited, the party will start a tour of the state with the 21 local government areas.
