Guardiola Rule Out Signing Antoinne Greizmann Says City's Not Interested

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola joked that buying Antoine Griezmann is out of their price range as he ruled out a move.

Guardiola and City have been linked with a move for Griezmann ever since his announcement on Tuesday that he will leave Atletico Madrid.

Following the 28-year-old’s big news, Barcelona are being hotly tipped as favourites to sign him in the upcoming transfer window.

And the Blaugrana will not be facing any stiff competition from big spenders City after Guardiola ruled out a move for Griezmann.

“For the people of Barcelona, I say: ‘Don’t worry, guys.’ Manchester City is not going to buy Antoine Griezmann, we cannot afford him,” joked Guardiola, according to ESPN .

“For the people of Barcelona, don’t worry. We are not interested in Griezmann.”

Guardiola’s Paris Saint-Germain counterpart Thomas Tuchel has also ruled out a move for Griezmann. Instead, the French champions intend to focus their financial resources on recruiting new “defensive profiles”.

Meanwhile, City are at the centre of an investigation by UEFA over breaching financial fair play (FFP) rules.

The Premier League champions have been referred to UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body (CFB) adjudicatory chamber for further investigation.

“If we did something wrong or UEFA decides that we have done something wrong OK, we’ll be banned, we will be punished or whatever they decide — but we are innocent right now,” said Guardiola.

“I spoke with the chairman, with the CEO and I know exactly what happened, I know exactly what they did and I trust them.

“I’m not going to answer any more questions. We are innocent today, so we’ll see in the future.”

City will meet Watford at Wembley on Saturday for the FA Cup final.
