Talented Artist Took His Own Life After Death Of Brother And Father
A talented artist who tried to save a man from a burning car killed himself three years after his brother also took his own life.
Kirk Jones, 44, was found hanged at his home in Wavertree, Liverpool, by his girlfriend Tracey after years of struggles with depression, anxiety and alcohol dependency.
The call centre worker had never dealt with the loss of his younger brother, Luke Jones, in 2016 and the death of his father in 2011, an inquest heard.
Liverpool Coroner's Court also heard Mr Jones had been left traumatised when he tried to free a man trapped in a burning car in 2001.
Anita Bhardwaj said Kirk died on February 23 the day after visiting his GP to complain he was having trouble sleeping, the Liverpool Echo reported .
Kirk's surviving brother, 46-year-old Spencer Jones, told the court: "He was a very sensitive person. He tried to pretend he wasn't but he was.
"I used to call him the Wizard of Oz because behind the curtain there was a little boy who was sensitive... He knew what happiness looked like but he just could not feel it."
The court heard Kirk had repeated mental health and alcohol treatment services since 2003 and had been sectioned in early 2018.
