Adamawa police command fires policeman over alleged murder
Adamawa police command has dismissed a policeman, Corporal Richard Japheth, who allegedly shot and killed a 20-year-old tricyclist, Arabo Dauda for failing to give him N100 toll pass in Maiha Local Government of the state.
Shortly after the incident which took place on June 1, 2020, the policeman was arrested and taken to the State CID Yola, where a discreet investigation was carried out.
After he was indicted of committing the crime, the Adamawa police command dismissed Japheth from service to face the law, as confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje.
“Yes, Richard Japheth has been dismissed from service. He’s currently in detention and will be charged to court for culpable homicide.
“The policeman was dismissed on June 16 and the commissioner of police gave the approval,” Nguroje said.
If established, culpable homicide is punishable with a death sentence.
