18 Nigerians trapped in Kuwait IDP camp cry for help
About 18 Nigerians trapped in Kuwait Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camp due to coronavirus pandemic have cried out for help.
In an 18-second video which has gone viral, the stranded Nigerians pleaded with the Federal Government to help them return. They have been at the IDP camp since April 2020.
They claimed that Kuwait Government had paid for their tickets after they were granted amnesty, but added that the Nigerian Mission in Kuwait has abandoned them.
Furthermore, they alleged that of the about 25,000 people from different parts of the world, only Nigerians are still in the camp as other countries have evacuated their nationals.
“We people here we are hungry. We want to go home because we are tired of staying here. The Kuwait people have tried.
“All countries have gone now. And we are not hearing anything from our embassy.
“When we call the embassy, they will insult us and they have not given us an notice about our going.
“All our neighbouring countries have gone. Imagine Benin Republic, Togo, Cameroon, everybody, remaining only us here.
“The truth of the matter is that we are frustrated hear right now because out of 75 countries only Nigerians that are left.
“It is a shameful thing. Our embassy is doing nothing,” one of them was heard saying.
