Tyson Fury ‘patiently waiting’ for next fight as he targets unification bout with Anthony Joshua

Tyson Fury claims he is ‘patiently waiting’ for his next boxing challenge as he showed off his quick upper body skills during a training video.

The ‘Gypsy King’ recently pulled out of a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder after he beat the American boxer in February of this year in a rematch.

The 32-year-old is widely expected to take on Anthony Joshua in a 2021 unification bout, with the Watford-born fighter taking on Kubrat Pulev in December.

Fury, meanwhile, was touted by Eddie Hearn as being a possible last minute replacement for Alexander Povetkin, who was set to take on Dillian Whyte later this month before being diagnosed with coronavirus.

However, the Morecambe-born boxer’s promoter Frank Warren dismissed talk of  Whyte bout in December, with Povetkin likely to take on the Brixton-born boxer in late January.

‘Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Dillian Whyte get absolutely poleaxed in his last fight?’ Warren said on talkSPORT.

‘At that time, he was the mandatory challenger to Tyson, he kept going on about it, he was going to sue everybody.

‘Then stupidly, they put him in with Povetkin and he poleaxed him. That’s it, he’s lost his chance. We don’t need him. What is in it for us?’

According to Warren, undefeated European champion Agit Kabayel from Germany is expected to be Fury’s next challenge, with the fight taking place before the all-British clash with Joshua.

‘We’re looking at the European champion Agit Kabayel and that’s the fight we’re looking to make.

‘[They’re dragging their heels] because they want more money – everybody does! But we’re close to making the fight.

‘Tyson has been training for this guy and that’s the fight he wants. Tyson is not interested in [a fight with Dillian Whyte].’
