Gunmen Kidnap Cross River NLC Chairman, Ben Ukpekpi
Some unknown gunmen on Sunday night, March 21 reportedly stormed Akpabuyo local government area of Cross River State and abducted Comrade Ben Ukpekpi.
Reports reaching MuchTalksBlog confirmed that the state chapter Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) was abducted by the assailants in the presence of his wife, while they were both standing outside their apartment at Cross River Estates (CROSPIL).
A source who allegedly witnessed the event told newsmen that the abduction of the Chairman was the second time.
He said: “The Chairman was kidnapped before but released after some ransom was paid”,
However, efforts to confirm the incident through the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Igbo and her Second in Command, ASP Igri ESA, proof abortive as the two personnel neither responded to their calls and messages respectively..
Meanwhile, suspected gunmen have burned down a police station located in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
The gunmen overpowered some police officers at the station and freed some suspects in detention, MuchTalksBlog learnt.
