Nigeria Records 479 New COVID-19 Cases

 


As the battle against COVID-19 continues, 479 new cases of the deadly virus in 20 states and the federal capital territory, Abuja.

This was announced by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC in its daily update on Tuesday, March 2.

According to the NCDC, Lagos recorded 153 fresh cases.

Other states with new cases include Enugu-75, Rivers-50, FCT-40, Kaduna-18, Ebonyi-17, Plateau-17, Edo-17, Borno-16, Oyo-12, Kano-11, Abia-10, Cross River-10, Taraba-9, Nasarawa-7, Bauchi-4, Bayelsa-3, Delta-3, Ekiti-2, Niger-2, Ogun-2 and Akwa Ibom-1.

Nigeria now has a total number of 156,496 confirmed cases, 134,551 patients have been discharged while 1923 deaths have been recorded.

In other news, MuchTalksBlog reported that President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo will pick dates on which they will be vaccinated publicly, with the first batch of Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid19 vaccine, which is about four million doses, expected to arrive in Nigeria on Tuesday. 

The Executive Director, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib, disclosed this at the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 briefing on Monday in Abuja.

Mr Shuaib said that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and chairman of the PTF on Covid19, Boss Mustapha, would liaise with other key strategic persons to fix the date for the public vaccination aimed at protecting Nigerians against the COVID-19 pandemic.
