Eid-el-Fitri Address: Be Hopeful and Prayerful – Oyo Deputy Governor

Speaking during his 2021 Eid-el-Fitri address, Oyo State Deputy Governor, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan has urged the Muslim faithful to remain prayerful during this challenging period in Nigeria.

Engineer Olaniyan, a devout Muslim, also charged the Oyo Muslim Ummah to hold on to the lessons they have learned during the holy month of Ramadan when the fasting ends. He also urged them instead to work daily to sustain the values and virtues in communication with God and their fellow man which the holy month of Ramadan has taught them.

In an Eid-el-Fitri commemoration statement signed by Engineer Olaniyan’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Omolere Omoetan, the Deputy Governor encouraged Oyo State Muslims, residents, and Nigerians to not lose hope in the face of all the challenges and be prayerful and that soon, better days will return to Nigeria.

The statement also reaffirmed the Igboho-born politician’s belief that any challenge can be overcome if we all align our daily lives with the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (SWT) in the Holy Qur’an.

He also extolled the virtues of brotherhood in his statement, saying that no matter our differences in Local Government, Tribe, Religion, Nationality et cetera, we will thrive as long as we respect and accommodate our neighbors.

In his words: “I charge all citizens of Oyo State regardless of their religious beliefs to remain enduring, and continue to pray for the success of the present administration in the State. The prudence of temperance, devoutness and consistent supplication to Allah and brotherly love should remain alive beyond Ramadan. Every son and daughter of this state should seek to contribute their quota to building the state so we can truly live up to our Pacesetter status with renewed dynamism and enterprise.”

He rounded up his statement by thanking Almighty Allah for sparing the country the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic that ravaged the world last year and made it impossible for Eid prayers to hold, unlike this year when prayers will hold in adherence to COVID-19 protocol.
