Erdogan, Turkey President, drags Nigeria into Israel, Palestine conflict

President Recep Erdogan of Turkey has involved Nigeria in the brewing face-off between Israel and Palestine, by urging the country to back the latter.

Specifically, Erdogan, who spoke with Buhari on Thursday evening, had expressed his desire to see Nigeria show solidarity with Palestine; especially in the wake of the latest attacks by Israel on Jerusalem and Gaza. Further, the development was confirmed by the Turkish Presidency via a message posted on its verified Twitter handle.

Erdogan revealed that Israel needed to be taught a lesson for its actions in Palestine; even as he hoped that Nigeria will support Palestine in this cause.

“Drawing attention to Turkey’s efforts exerted in order for the international community to teach the necessary lesson to unlawful, unjust and unscrupulous Israel due to its attacks against Palestine, President Erdogan voiced his belief that Nigeria would show solidarity with the Palestinians in this rightful cause.”
