Gunmen Abduct 3 Yoruba Cattle Breeders in Ibarapa, Demand N10m as Ransom
Unidentified gunmen suspected to be Fulani herders on Sunday night stormed a settlement in Idi-ope area, Ibarapa North Local government area of Oyo state, kidnapping 3 Yoruba cattle breeders in the process.
The three abducted persons identified as: Kabiru Oladimeji, Kazeem and Soka, were said to have been on their way to visit the person who manages the ranch for them when their abductors waylaid and whisked them away.
According to reports, the kidnappers have contacted the families of their victims to demand for a ransom of N10 million before the three men will be released.
Confirming the report of their kidnap to newsmen, the Convener of Igangan Development Advocates, Oladiran Oladokun, stated that the incident happened on Sunday night.
The spokesperson of the Oyo State Police Command; Mr.
Adewale Osifeso, also confirmed the incident stating that; “three male victims were abducted around 18:20hrs on Sunday at Idi Ope village near Igangan.
“The case was reported 11:54hrs on Monday.
“Efforts are ongoing to rescue the victims and apprehend the abductors.
Osifeso subsequently appealed to members of the public to endeavor to make timely report of such incidents in order to assist the police in taking prompt and necessary action in arresting the culprits and ensuring the release of victims.
