The body responsible for investigating and prosecuting corruption in Oyo state; the Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) has revealed that no individual irrespective of status or position will influence the activities of the agency or control how the body carries out its responsibilities.

The agency’s chairman; Justice Eni Esan (rtd) revealed the agency’s stance on external influence of individuals or groups on the anti-corruption fight, on Thursday at a media chat between the press, the board and the management team of the agency at its office located at Agodi GRA in Ibadan.

Justice Esan while reiterating the agency’s readiness to fight corruption in the state also stated that the agency, in its bid to respect human dignity as provided by the law, will not be publicizing its investigations on perceived corrupt persons in the state.

She emphasized that as an agency set up by an enabling the law which empowers it to stand on its own, “nobody can control us or tell us how to do our job. We have an enabling law which states that we are not subject to any individual’s authority.

“We will not be publicizing our investigations because we are committed to respecting human dignity as provided by law. We promise that we will be discreet and thorough while we will also ensure optimum protection of complainants and sources,” she said.

The OYACA boss also clarified that to ensure that investigations carried out by the agency are thorough, it will engage the services of in-house investigators who will be trained by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) academy.
