OYSIEC Holds Security Meeting as CP Assures Electorates of Standby Security
In its bid to ensure a fair, transparent and chaos-free local government election, the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission has engaged security agencies in the state to man specific locations which will be hosting the poll.
The decision to synergize with security forces was communicated in a meeting held at the Conference room of the Oyo state Electoral commission, Agodi Quarters, Ibadan, which had in attendance officers of the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Security Defense Service Commission, National Correctional Services amongst others provided a platform to dialogue and strategize ahead of the poll.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Ngozi Onadeko while speaking shortly after the meeting, enjoined politicians to eschew violence but rather put on comradeship and oneness before, during and after the election.
CP. Ngozi avowed that participants in a democratic process as election should not be associated with the disruption of such process as this would sabotage efforts to develop such areas.
The Police boss further said that her agency would synergize with other security agencies to ensure the smooth procession of the democratic activities and also establish the safety of lives and property before, during and after the election.
The CP consequently admonished commission members to expedite meeting with the representatives of political parties with the security agencies on the need to promote peace during the election.

“Shun violence and criminality and let’s have a free and fair election. For the security agencies, we will ensure the security of lives and property during and after the election.”
The Chairman, Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission; Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, SAN, revealed that the meeting was inaugurated to map out strategies to be adopted to make sure there exists a standing peaceful ambience for electorates to cast their vote on election day.
He consequently assured the people of Oyo state of an election devoid of violence and harassment of voters and will also serve as a positive example to other states.
