Paul Damiba officially sworn in as Burkina Faso’s President

 


Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba was sworn in as the new president of Burkina Faso on Wednesday in a televised ceremony.


Damiba, head of the Patriotic Movement for Safeguard and Restoration(MPSR), took his oath in front of the Constitutional Council to “preserve, respect, uphold and defend the Constitution, the fundamental act and the laws”.


While making his maiden speech,Damiba assured the country that MPSR main goal was to restore order.


”As a country, we have all we need to win this fight (fight against terrorism)”,he said


Aside from security, the Head of State has pledged to fight corruption and those found culpable in any acts of corruption will be held liable in his new government.


”No individual no matter their role will be allowed to hold our population hostage”


He further thanked the international community for support of Burkina Faso and reiterated that he will work with all international and subregional partners to ensure his government is inclusive.
