Twitter: Lady bares boobs, sparks debate online

On Thursday, January 2, a Twitter user identified with the username
@Coco_September instigated a debate on the microblogging site; after she shared bare photos of her breasts in a transparent outfit.

This young lady’s outfit has caused a debate on social media. Indeed, numerous Twitter users are unable to decipher the actual reason for her excessive exposure. Several social media users noted that the young lady’s exposure should not lead to her being raped, abused or becoming an object of sexualization.

A lot of women in the lady’s comment section stated that the boobs should never be sexualized.

Equally important, sexualization is to make something sexual in character or quality or to become aware of sexuality; especially in relation to men and women. Sexualization is linked to sexual objectification.

Below are the photos posted by @Coco_September that instigated controversy online.

Moments after the above photos surfaced online, numerous commentators and trolls bombarded her comment section. Some were fascinated by her courage to put up such a sensitive photo while several others were disgusted by her act.

In fact, several men notably mentioned that women like Coco help in promoting the rape and sexual assault culture. They stated that women who lack modesty and lack of respect for their body will be disrespected, hence, they should know when to curtail nudity.

Here is a comment from one of such respondents: “Call me whatever but this is perverted. If men were to free any of their body parts that are sexually lucrative to the other gender it would be a huge offence. But when its this gender its freedom of expression. Men continue to be oppressed as women seek to be liberated.”
