Pirates Abduct Five South Koreans In Benin
In a recent statement, Seoul’s foreign ministry and the International Maritime Bureau confirmed the abduction of five South Koreans and a Ghanaian by pirates after boarding their fishing vessel in Benin.
The vessel which had 30 crew members on board was attacked on Wednesday about 60 nautical miles south of the Beninese capital Cotonou.
In the statement, Seoul’s foreign ministry said;
“Currently, the identity and the whereabouts of the kidnappers have not been identified.
All vessels are advised to maintain a vigilant anti-piracy watch and measures including at anchorages.”
