Tanguy Ndombele ‘told Jose Mourinho he never wants to play for him again’
Tanguy Ndombele ‘told Jose Mourinho he never wants to play for him again’ during a heated clash at Tottenham‘s training ground earlier this week.
The Portuguese manager and the French midfielder are known to have a frosty relationship with Mourinho publicly criticising Ndombele’s performances on a number of occasions.
Ndombele, who cost Tottenham a club record £55.45million plus a potential further £9m in add-ons when he signed from Lyon last year, has been an unused substitute in both Spurs games since the Premier League restart.
And, according to ESPN, Ndombele and Mourinho clashed during a training session on Monday with the argument then continuing in the manager’s office at their Enfield headquarters.
They report that Ndombele, 23, had heard enough of Mourinho’s constant criticism in both public and private.
Despite making efforts to lose weight and train hard during the coronavirus shutdown, even contravening Government guidelines to train with Mourinho in a north London park, Mourinho told the Frenchman he was not fit enough to start games.
Ndombele thinks differently and was disappointed to remain on the bench during the draw with Manchester United last Friday and Tuesday night’s win over West Ham.
Mourinho had played down the suggestion of a rift between the pair in his post-match press conference.
ESPN say that clear-the-air talks between the pair are unlikely despite mediation by Ndombele’s agents Romain Fernandez and Mounir Sidhoum.
Following their latest clash, it’s more likely Ndombele could leave Tottenham after just one season once the window opens.
However, with Covid-19 impacting heavily on club finances, the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, who all expressed an interest in him last year, may only be able to afford loan or part-exchange deals.
