Police shoot pregnant dog for preventing them entering a compound
A pregnant dog guarding its owner’s house has been shot from close range by the police in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
An eyewitness who narrated the incident on Twitter said the police officers invaded no. 6, Samson Ogunleye street, Omi Agagu, Olufoam Area in Akure on Wednesday morning when they were confronted by the dog.
The witness, identified as Joseph Shenniake, said that he and his neighbour were outside the compound chatting at around 7 am when they heard strange voices outside.
Upon confirming that it was the police trying to enter their compound, they went back into their respective homes to avoid harassment.
But before they knew it the policemen opened fire on the dog, leaving its organs hanging as it bled profusely.
The police have however reacted on Twitter by stating that an investigation has been initiated.
“Your complaint is hereby acknowledged and investigation has been initiated. Your tracking number is #CRU200696 Thank you for contacting NPF-CRU. Cc:@i_am_jay_bee,” the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) of the Police tweeted.
