Abductions: APC ex-scribe Tumsah warns of consequence
Tijjani Tumsah, ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says abduction of students may have adverse effects on Nigeria.
The former member of the Presidential Committee on North-East Initiative gave the warning in a statement on Sunday.
Tumsah condemned the Friday kidnap of more than 300 schoolgirls in Jangebe, Zamfara.
He said it occurred while the Zamfara Government was seeking a peace deal with repentant bandits.
Tumsah urged security agencies to stop the recurring attacks on young citizens.
The politician advocated a multi-pronged approach to deal with insecurity in the country.
“The kidnapping of school children will, no doubt, negatively affect learning as no meaningful academic activities can take place in an insecure environment.
“Attacks on schools may also discourage some parents from sending their kids to school. The consequence of having a generation without proper education can be better imagined than experienced,” he said.
Tumasah urged the government to prevent further attacks and called for safe release of the captives.
