Africa’s COVID-19 cases near 4.08M: Africa CDC
COVID-19 cases in Africa have reached 4,076,147 as of Friday evening, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said.
The Africa CDC, the specialized healthcare agency of the African Union (AU), said the death toll from the pandemic stood at 108,998 while 3,660,028 patients across the continent have recovered from the disease.
South Africa has reported 51,724 COVID-related deaths, the most among African countries, followed by Egypt with 11,472 deaths, and Morocco with 8,748, according to the Africa CDC.
Southern Africa is the most-affected region in terms of confirmed cases, followed by the northern Africa and eastern Africa regions.
