Boko Haram insurgents strike again, torch primary school and healthcare center in Yobe State

 


Gunmen believed to be members of Boko Haram on Tuesday attacked Katarko community in Gujba Local Government Council of Yobe State, in Nigeria.


The suspected insurgents also burned down a primary school and a healthcare centre located in the community.

As reported by Channels Television, a resident, Fantami Kura said that the gunmen stormed the community at about 5:30 am when they were going to the mosque for prayers.

“We came out as usual around 5.30 am for prayers, we sighted the gunmen, we immediately alerted our people and run into bush for safety.


They proceeded straight to the military formation in Katarko shooting sporadically and later set the base on fire.”


The number of casualties is still unknown at the time of this report.


Katarko community which is 18 kilometers south of Damaturu the state capital, has been under attack over 10 times.


The attack on the northeast by the insurgents has been on the rise, but the Nigerian troops are ensuring that the insecurity situation in the country is a thing of the past.
