Lilian Afegbai: ‘A woman should never pay a man’s bills’

Nollywood actress, Lilian Afegbai has come hard on men who are reliant on women. She dubbed them vegetables.

In an Instagram rant, the Nollywood actress stated that women should at no point in time cater to the welfare of their male counterparts.

In a post shared via her Instagram Stories on Monday, March 15, 2021, the movie star said such men who are comfortable with their bills being footed by women are vegetables.

“I can never understand a woman that pays a man’s bill.

It’s different if you guys are married and things go bad; where you have to step in and help till he gets back on his feet,” she wrote.

She continued;

“But paying his rent and all; men have pride they will carry your money and give to that girl who would respect and appreciate them for the little they do…

A man who’s comfortable with a woman paying his bills is a vegetable”.

No matter how much you think a woman has, as a man you should take care of her no matter how little you can afford it.

That’s you keeping your pride”.

Afegbai is a former Big Brother Africa housemate.

In 2018 she won the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for Indigenous movie of the Year for her production debut Bound in 2018.

A couple of weeks ago, Lilian Afegbai returned to the photo-sharing app after going on a one-month hiatus.

The movie star’s mum, Carol Afegbia, a retired police officer was also called out during the #EndSARS protest for allegedly being behind the murder of a student, Ibrahim Momoh of the University of Benin.

The actress who came under severe backlash deactivated her Instagram page and likewise went ‘Missing In Action.’

She had also alleged that her life was under threat.

She has however returned to the social media platform with her nearly 400k followers still intact.

It would be recalled that the actress had to come to her mum’s defence; after she was called out over the murder of Momoh.

In her defence, she noted that the person who killed the student was already serving a life sentence in prison.

“As per my mother being dragged for murder; to the best of my knowledge my mother who is now retired did not kill anyone. The police officer (AMADIN IDAHOSA) that was attached to my mother’s station who killed the suspect was sentenced to life imprisonment; by Justice R. Irele-Ifijeh of the High Court of Justice, Edo State in Charge No: B/CD/24C/2014,” she wrote.
