Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has been serving as the host of the popular reality show, Big Brother Naija since it returned in 2017.
Ebuka, an ex-BBNaija contestant himself competed in the inaugural edition of the show in 2006. He finished 8th at the time; however, he has remained one of the most popular housemates from that edition.
The former BBNaija season 1 housemate has been hosting the reality show for three years after the show came back in 2017. Equally important, the media personality is popular for his fashion statement in the show.
However, a Twitter user raised a controversial topic, after he said Ebuka should be replaced by Nancy Isime or Frank Edoho as BBNaija host since he has “eaten small”.
The Twitter user wrote:
“Ebuka don eat small, make him allow another person chop!
Frank Edoho as BBNaija host for this season won’t be a bad choice tho.
Eviction night go choke gan.”
MuchTalksBlog reports that the comment was taken up by other Twitter users; many of whom called for a female co-host as a way to ensure gender parity.
This led to public outrage and backlash, as Nigerians and other fans of the popular reality show defended Ebuka which led to a Twitter debate. The debate dragged intensely on the micro-blogging platform.
Responding to the Twitter debate, Ebuka took to Twitter to tell his fans that he loves them; apparently for defending him against those asking for his replacement.
”I love you guys ” Ebuka tweeted.
