Seyi Shay: Nigerians bash singer over brutal comment to Nigerian idol contestant

Nigerian recording artiste, Seyi Shay has come under fire for berating a 17-year-old youngster identified as Ayo Torrus at a Nigerian idol audition.

Seyi Shay is one of the judges at the ongoing audition for the 6th edition of the music reality show, Nigerian idol.

The show hosted by TV personality IK Osakioduwa also includes the services of judges- Obi Asika, Seyi Shay and DJ Sose.

On Sunday, the March 28th episode of the reality show, which aired on African Magic, a 17-year-old upcoming artiste identified as Ayo Torrus came up for his performance. After delivering his piece before the judges, Seyi Shay berated the young man’s performance.

The songstress specifically stated that the 17-year-old should quit music because he will not earn money from being a singer.

She made this statement despite the young man explaining that he was nervous. However, the singer was not having it, berating the contestant.

Here is what she said;

”Someone lied to you, someone told you to come here and audition.

Your performance is terrible, you are never going to make money from singing.

That singing thing isn’t going to work for you.”
