S. African trade minister tests positive for COVID-19
South Africa’s Minister of Trade Industry and Competition has tested positive to COVID-19, said a government spokesperson on Wednesday.
Patel tested positive on Tuesday.
“Minister Patel is in good spirits and is currently in self-isolation. The government urges all South Africans to vaccinate and remain disciplined in observing all COVID-19 safety protocols to ensure a safe and joyful festive season with family and friends,” said spokesperson Bongani Lukhele.
Several South African government officials have tested positive for the pandemic.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has recently recovered from the COVID-19 and returned to work last week.
