Tunisian PM, Italian FM discuss bilateral strategic cooperation
Tunisian Prime Minister Najla Bouden Romdhane on Wednesday met with visiting Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio to discuss cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides discussed ways to consolidate their bilateral strategic ties, and the prospects for upgrading bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, and social fields, said a Tunisian government statement.
The Italian Minister expressed his country’s support for Tunisia in this delicate economic situation, adding that Italy hopes that the democratic process in Tunisia will be crowned with a success that will positively return to stability in the Mediterranean region.
Di Maio also expressed the determination of Italian companies operating in Tunisia to diversify their activities in order to help promote the industrial sector in Tunisia.
On Tuesday, the Italian Foreign Minister was received by Tunisian President Kais Saied, and they urged efforts to tackle the root causes of illegal immigration and combat human trafficking on both sides of the Mediterranean.
