Super Eagle Defender Idowu Joins Lokomotiv Moscow, Excited To Play In UCL
Russian Premier League club Lokomotiv Moscow have signed Super Eagles defender Bryan Idowu from Amkar Perm.Lokomotiv Moscow, the former club of ex-Nigeria forward Osaze Odemwingie, confirmed the deal for free agent Idowu on Tuesday.
“National team of Nigeria defender Bryan Idowu has signed a three-year contract with Lokomotiv Moscow,” the club announced on the official website on Tuesday.
Idowu, 26, who featured in all three Super Eagles games at the Russia 2018 World Cup, said he was excited to join the Moscow giants, especially as they will be playing in Europe.
Lokomotiv Moscow won the Russian Premier League title last season and will be playing in the UEFA Champions League in the new season, giving Idowu a taste of elite European competition.“I am very glad to switch to Lokomotiv. I’m really looking forward to joining the team at the training camp,” Idowu told the club’s website.
“As a child I watched the matches of “Loco” in the Champions League – against Real and Inter. The whole country was proud of the team!
“I’m happy to be acquainted with Alexander Kolomeitsev, with whom I played together in Perm. The rest of the guys know about the matches of Amkar against Lokomotiv.”
