President Buhari Sends Highly Effective Message To Gen. Oladipo Diya


President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated former Chief of General Staff (CGS), Lt.-Gen. Oladipo Diya, on his 75th birthday on April 3, highlighting his a few years of service to the nation.

The President’s message is in a press release by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina in Abuja on Tuesday.

Adesina acknowledged that Buhari felicitated with members of the family, pals, skilled colleagues and associates of the previous Ogun State governor.

He stated that Diya’s navy profession noticed him efficiently dealing with delicate and strategic management positions as General Officer Commanding,.82 Division, Commandant, National War College (1991–1993) and Chief of Defence Staff.

The President affirmed that Diya’s gallantry, wealthy mental background and penchant for analysis contributed to the construction and operations of the Nigerian Army, particularly in tackling safety challenges inside the nation and the West Coast area.

Buhari added that he believed the nation had benefitted from Diya’s wealth of information, knowledge and expertise and urged him to remain related by counselling navy formations and officers.

He prayed that the Almighty God would grant Diya longer life, good well being and proceed to bless his household.

Born on April 3, 1944 in Odogbolu in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State, Diya attended Yaba Methodist School, Lagos from 1950 – 1956 and thereafter proceeded to Odogbolu as a pioneer pupil from 1957 – 1962.

He joined the Nigerian Army by direct entry, having been exempted from qualifying examination on the power of his West African Senior School Certificate end result and after three and half years of intensive navy coaching on the Academy, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in March 1967.

Brigadier Diya, a daily combatant soldier served in numerous positions within the Nigerian Army since his fee as 2nd Lieutenant in 1967.
