Police Arrest Four Suspects Over Theft Of 444 Mattresses Meant For Flood Victims In Bayelsa
Four suspects have been paraded on Tuesday, March 9 by the Bayelsa state police command for allegedly stealing 444 mattresses meant for flood victims.
MuchTalksBlog learnt that the mattresses were kept and stored in an undisclosed location in Yenagoa, the state capital.
It was also learnt that Civil Liberties Organisations (CLO) in the state had raised alarm over the stolen mattresses which prompted the police to react.
The suspects identified as Shehu Yola, 42, and Sunday Emmanuel, 28 were arrested by the police operatives owing to a tip-off at Okaka, Yenagoa on February 18, 2021, while transporting the truckload of matressess to Kano State.
According to the Police Commissioner, CP Mike Okoli, further investigation led to the arrest of other suspects namely Doloebiowei Line, Richard Dino, Yahaya Adamu and Obiri Rowland who sold the mattresses to the suspects.
In other news, MuchTalksBlog reported that a 56-year-old man identified as Christopher Chiabata who killed his wife during a fight over money at Onuebum community in Ogbia Local Government Area of the state has been arrested by the Bayelsa State Police Command.
MuchTalksBlog learnt that the suspect, Chiabata struck his 41-year-old wife with a pestle during a fight.
It was also learnt that the suspect tried to commit suicide by taking Sniper after his wife died in the hospital but neighbours resuscitated and handed him over to Police.
