Akuapem Poloo lands in Ghanaian prison despite bail

 

Ghanaian actress, Akuapem Poloo real name Rosemond Brown has landed in Nsawam Prison several days after she was initially bailed.

Recall Akuapem Poloo received bail on Wednesday, April 21 after she was initially sentenced to 3-months imprisonment for publishing a nude photo of herself and her 7-year-old son on Instagram.

On Wednesday, April 21, an Accra High Court granted her bail at GH¢80,000 (N5.6 million) with two sureties, pending an appeal by her lawyer Andy Vortia.

However, in a new development, Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Prisons Service ASP Samuel Kofi Opoku, in an interview with Christian Agyei Frimpong, host of Onua FM’s entertainment talk show Anigye Mmre; confirmed that Akuapem Poloo is currently in their custody at the Nsawam Female Prisons.

According to ASP Samuel Kofi Opoku, Akuapem Poloo was brought to them Thursday, April 22.

The actress was sentenced for her Instagram post where she went naked; while posing with her seven-year-old son in June 2020.

In other news, the High Commission of Ghana in Nigeria has denied the alleged castigation of Nigeria and her leadership by President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana.

The alleged comments from Akufo-Addo had painted the Nigerian government in a bad light.

The Ghanaian President was quoted to have allegedly said; 

“We must learn from the mistakes of Nigeria, and never in our entire history be ever so foolish.

“You cannot declare war on your country and still be enjoying federal allocation as a state except in complicity with the government. The Nigerian government is an ethnic government, not a nationalistic government.

What I cannot understand is why Nigerians themselves are not angry enough to change the situation.”

According to the official, the statements accredited to Mr. President were not true and misleading.
