DSS Should Arrest People Making Unfounded Claims On Social Media- David Umahi
Ebonyi state Governor, David Umahi has appealed to the Department of State Security Service, DSS, to start arresting people who are in the habit of making unsubstantiated claims on social media to tarnish the image of the federal government.
Umahi was engaged in an interview on Channels TV where he made the disclosure that there should be decorum on the way people conduct themselves on social media. He called for the DSS to arrest those who are fond of making false claims.
He said: “If you are making a statement on social media and call it freedom of speech, you must come to the law to substantiate it. Never in the history of this country have we been so divided because of politics, because people want power by all means,”
herdsmen to keep their distance from the state at the moment.
In other news, the governor has also warned herdsmen to keep their distance from the state for a short time. According to him, the amount of pressure from the killing of policemen and burning of police stations in the South-East zone should deter the herdmen to stay put at where they are.
in his words: “We are killing policemen, we are burning police station which means that South East leaders should know that our problem is not just herdsmen. We want to put it on record that no herdsman is in Ebonyi state now.
“We didn’t ask them to leave. They left on their own, which means they were privy to the attacks on Ebonyi state.
“I have been begging the National leadership that with what is going on, no State Governor is in control of bandits and because of the killings of the defenceless Ebonyi people, for the safety of them, they should not return now.
“There is high tension. We have sent text messages to Myetti Allah that Ebonyi state is under tension and we would not want them to still stay until such a time that the State is safe.”
