Seyitan Babatayo, D’banj’s Rape Accuser Releases Official Statement Detailing Events Since Story Broke
Ms. Seyitan Babatayo, D’banj’s rape accuser, has released an official statement detailing the events since she came forward with the accusation.
This comes after D’banj took to Instagram to request that people stop social media trial, declaring he is innocent until proven guilty.
The statement released by Seyitan reiterated her stance that yes, she was indeed raped by the musician and her first attempt to file a formal complaint was thwarted by a police officer at a police station in Victoria Island.
She however stated that on Monday, June 22, 2020, she was able to successfully file a criminal complaint of rape against Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo aka D’banj.
Babatayo also revealed that she was arrested by policemen who gained access to her apartment disguised as delivery agents and contrary to widespread rumour, her mother was never arrested.
This strong woman stated that she was locked up for almost 48 hours without access to her lawyers and phones and afterwards, taken to a location of D’banj’s choosing where she was bullied into recanting her earlier tweets and made to say all was for a publicity stunt.
The statement released contained not only the rape allegations but also kidnapping, intimidation, etc.
