Former Emir Sanusi’s Nephew Abducted
Aminu Musa Abdullahi, a nephew to former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has been abducted by suspected kidnappers.
It was gathered that Abdullahi, popularly known as Yaya Baba, was kidnapped while on transit to Kano along Abuja-Kaduna highway last week.
Though there was no confirmation from the Kano State Police Command but a credible source said the family decided to keep the incident low.
The source, who is close to the family of the former emir, said the kidnappers have contacted the family to demand for ransom. He, however, did not disclose the amount.
He said the family members had sourced for the ransom but lost contact with the abductors.
“The family has sourced the requested amount and when the person assigned to deliver the money to the kidnappers set out to meet them, he lost contact with them completely. Till this moment, they have not communicated to the family,” the source said.
Meanwhile, drivers who ply the Abuja-Kaduna highway have raised the alarm over the return of kidnappers along the route.
The drivers said the kidnappers earlier operated mostly between 5am and 7am and 7pm and 9pm.
They explained that the criminals now operate anytime through collaborators, who disguise as commercial bus driver.
The agents will pick passengers along the road and hand them over to the kidnappers after a journey of about 30 kilometers, one of the drivers, who preferred not to be named, told our correspondent.
“Such drivers don’t pick passengers from the garage, but along the road, and once they get to the outskirts, they will pretend that the vehicle has developed problem. After a while, the kidnappers will emerge from the bush and take the passengers to an unknown destination,” he said.
