Drug Cartels In Every Part Of The Country Must Be Crushed – NDLEA Chairman, Buba Marwa To Senior Officers

Buba Marwa, the chairman and chief executive officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has urged the agency’s senior officers to ensure that all drug cartels in the country be decimated.

He said the new initiative will be part of the agency’s efforts to guarantee that the nation’s anti-drug battle succeeds during a ceremony to decorate newly promoted deputy commanders-general of narcotics and assistant commanders-general of narcotics (ACGNs) on Thursday July 29 in Abuja.

Marwa said;

“This war must be pursued relentlessly, the entire country mobilised and we must succeed.

“Therefore, I charge all the topmost officers of this agency to go all out and crush the drug scourge in every part of the country.”

 He attributed the agency’s success to President Buhari’s assistance, saying that the Nigerian leader has allowed payment of obligations and entitlements owing to workers for years, as well as funeral expenditures due to families of fallen officers, since 2015.

In recent development, the Kaduna State Highs Court on Wednesday freed Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat from Kaduna Correctional Centre after they were cleared off all charges.

In his decision, Justice Gabriel Kolawole rejected the State Security Service’s attorney, Tijjani Gazali’s, claim that Mr El-Zakzaky was held in safe custody by the SSS.

He claimed that the decision to detain the Islamic cleric and his wife for their own safety was not made in accordance with the law.

“I have not been shown any incident report or any complaint lodged by residents around the neighbourhood that the applicant has become a nuisance to his neighbourhood,” said the judge.
